Why are some people so anti-Catholic?

I think there are tens of millions of wonderful Christians who are Roman Catholics. Unfortunately, however, I think a lot of them are too quick to be followers and not think for themselves. I think they are gullible and naive. I have a problem with the authorities running the Roman Catholic Church. I think they are self-righteous, and lovers of material wealth and power over spiritual values. Hardly what they are supposed to be. The pope is no representative of Christ on earth. Quite the contrary.
