What shall I do with this guy I like?

I like this guy I work with, we're friends, he broke up with his ex girlfriend about 4 months ago first he wasn't over her, so I told him I understood & I back off a bit, I went away for awhile and he started talking to me. It wasn't just me talking to him he was talking to me, and if we were texting and he would fall asleep he would actually apologise. & then one night we decided to play 20 Questions and it became (Like every 20 Questions game) ual. Well I asked him what would he do if I kissed him at work (that's when I was seeing him next) he told me he wouldn't let the opportunity p.. he has this black band around his arm, he told me it was promise to his ex girlfriend.. So.. @ work once we had finished &. He took it off and kissed me, & it wasn't just a peck it was a nice pionate sensual kiss & if we weren't at work it would have gone further but after that he put the band back on & I left. Now he thinks that he is going to hurt me in the future and that I should try my best to avoid him at all costs which is really frustrating because now he is blatantly ignoring. & I know you're going to say .. "move on" but I can't I really like him and he told me he likes me too, but I just don't know what to say to him that will make him understand that I am willing to take a chance, I've tried convincing him. it's not working :'( . Please Help me, I see him next Saturday night @ work then I leave for Italy and don't see him til May.
